Strange association...
The Niva is the most reliable non-mainstream car I've ever had, and it's built in a way I can fix it in the backyard.
Same goes for BSD, is the most reliable non-mainstream os I've used so far, and it's built in a way I can fix it in the desk.
Obuya
Shouldn't we desire for more non-hackers to use it? :)

Has anybody configured a wifi connection to 5ghz?

I doubt. You can send email to him, adrian@freebsd.org

is there a sysctl or kernel variable to prevent getmaxlun requests on a specific device?
Stéphane
I have this one multicard reader that FreeBSD won't identify properly, it will try get max lun on it and hang up the device
Carl
Maybe do a counter or just kill it at all when he tries
Aleksey
А кто помнит сколько у нас sysctl kern.maxfiles и ulimit -n по умолчанию?
Andriy
ulimit -n
234630
sysctl kern.maxfiles
kern.maxfiles: 260704
Stéphane
Maybe do a counter or just kill it at all when he tries
actually I have this problem when trying to boot pfSense from a SD card... I happened to not have a proper USB stick available at hand, so this is before devd kicks in. I know it's a kernel quirk in the driver, to avoid doing that on some devices it identifies as having multiple card slots
Carl
I can not give you any clue then .. My bsd knowledge is minimal .. Try the "kern.maxfiles" way they suggested you, maybe you can boot the kernel with this option
Stéphane
ok there's the usb_quirk module ... but the pfSense image doesn't have it
Stéphane
https://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=usb_quirk&sektion=4&n=1
Stéphane
ah, turns out the module is not needed
Stéphane
set hw.usb.quirk.0="0x0003 0x0004 0 0xffff UQ_MSC_NO_GETMAXLUN"
on the boot loader does the trick

We start using semi-automatic, they buy automatic. We start wearing Kevlar, they buy armor-piercing rounds.
Just quoting Gordon from that Batman movie.
We'll have to develop things to act as firewalls for that technology...
Damn those advertisers know no barriers...

Hi guys.
When I Plug the SDCard to the computer, the computer does not detect my SDCard.
I checked the dmesg output but there is nothing.
but i don't have any problem with USB.
and the SDCard works fine on Arch Linux.

I want to know vendor ID and model ID. If it's USB-based card reader, please provide output of "usbconfig dump_all_desc". If PCI-based, "pciconf -lv".
Mikhail
Then if device is not supported, please create bug on bugzilla.

not to change the subject but for a moment ( Howdy Nomad, Been a while) , Anybody here doing FreeBSD on a Raspberry Pi? 2, 3, or 4 ? or is there a different group on telegram for that ?

OK i do it.
But i am not sure my device is supported or no.
because when i plug an USB, Reader detect my USB.
Carl
the usb is like a web, so usb is usb, however the card reader must be decoded apart in his integrated circuit i think
Carl
usb = cable .... card reader = integrated circuit
Anonymous
Carl
the usb go ahead directly in a cable ... and the motherboard understand what the usb cable have inside .... however, each card reader is diferent from the others, they have his own circuit inside the reader, so the info in the cable can be different from one reader to other ... that's why somebody must write some special code to understand each reader
Carl
my english sucks, so it's hard to explain

Carl
the are the same device, but, the protocol from usb is understable and the card reader it's not (yet)
Anonymous
each one has own driver/protocol in same device?
Carl
of course ... even the printer and scanner
Anonymous
amazing.
Carl
maybe device is not the word, because reader would be one device and the usb is another but they are in the same box
Carl
what i am trying to say is that you can connect always a usb memory and you need nothing, and you conect a printer and maybe you do not have support, that's the same example, just they are in the same box
