Do you want to make a freedombox on a FreeBSD basis?
Nope. Just going for the 'real thing' => their freedombox for raspi, based on debian
Phil
unix socket file is better, imo
yes it's considered for performances
./pascal.sh
I own 9000 usb disks, while I don't want to buy more SD cards.
What the hell 9000 usb drives 😂😂😂

Hi, does someone know what the best practice would be to copy a completed torrent, once it's finished downloading to my laptop automatically but keep seeding it? Theoretically it would be possible to somehow copy it over scp or rsync I guess The only problem is that my laptop is not always running but mostly in standby ... Does anyone have a solution for this problem ?
Anonymous
./pascal.sh
So let's say I start a torrent with the transmission remote Then its finished downloading and the data is being automatically copied to my laptop But the torrent itself stays on the server and continues seeding
Anonymous
yes
Anonymous
understood
./pascal.sh
I want to accomplish exactly that
./pascal.sh
But I don't know how
Anonymous
So you are looking for a functionality in a torrent-client to determine a successful DL and giving you the opportunity to start a command automatically
Phil
@Pascal3366 you could script it with libtorrent on python
Anonymous
rsync & scp were the most suitable candidates
./pascal.sh
But I also don't want every torrent to be copied to my laptop Only specific ones I guess that's the problem here 😂
Phil
In 20 lines it's done in python
./pascal.sh
Ok 👌 Or maybe it would be better to just let it stays in my completed folder on the server and copy the files manually to my machine using nfs Mhhhh
Anonymous
If your DLs are 'uniform', meaning comparable in size, you could determine torrent-DL-time once and set a crontab command, based on a suitable time-interval and your DL-folder
Anonymous
Other method: grsync allows you in tab 'extra options' to set commands before/after its call
./pascal.sh
Ok
Anonymous

If your DL-files followed a uniform naming convention, all would be fine. If there are ANY file names, how could you automize the process? You needed to teach your server to rename all incoming files to the same naming pattern, isn't it?
./pascal.sh
weird i cant mount my nfs share anymore
./pascal.sh
➜ ~ sudo showmount -e 192.168.2.252 Export list for 192.168.2.252: /nas/Media (everyone) but the mount point is there
./pascal.sh
but it cant be found mount.nfs4: mounting 192.168.2.252:/nas/Media failed, reason given by server: No such file or directory
./pascal.sh
this is my exports file currently V4: /nas /nas/Media i also removed the subnet restriction

What did you do in between? 😉
./pascal.sh

I tried to add another nfs share to have two nfs shares and deleted the old one :(

If you did it exactly the same way, as you created the 1st one, reboot your NAS. I had a similar issue before. After a stalled connection from the client, I rebooted both and it worked immediately like before. Nothing else helped to restore/re-establish the nfs-connection...
./pascal.sh
I am using transmission and I would like to continue using it because it's whitelisted to use for many trackers

hi guys ... I am trying to install freebsd 12.1-REL ( and ghostbsd or furybsd latest) on a lenovo 14W 81MQ without success. The problem is the hd that is not recognized, so I cant install. The disk is a solid state nvme. Any tips / suggestion ? Thanks
Gianmarco
it works unfortunately on linux quite well :)
Vinod

Gianmarco
Thanks so much for your input. I didn't check for the kernel module :) Now I'll try and let you know what is happening :) The "unfortunate" is because I have tried a lot of times to install many FreeBSD flavours without success, but when I tried an ubuntu it worked nicely without any modifications in the plain install. And this make me a little bit upset :) But I didn't think to kldload a module ... Now I check :)

Martha
Hello, The kind of error lets me think of a binary incompatibility between the library that you're trying to link… and PHP?
Martha
Not knowing much of PHP, instinctively I'd check the version of the library to be compatible, maybe trying with a different version
Alfarizz
thank you for the answer. it already solved. the problem is. mysql version is too hight
Alfarizz
i used mysql v 8. now rouncube connected to mysql version 5
Alfarizz
now its working

hi all, just to continue the lenovo 14w discussion.. Linux seems to identify the device as: [ 2.150190] kernel: mmc1: new HS200 MMC card at address 0001 2 4.00 MiB [ 2.153157] kernel: mmcblk1: mmc1:0001 DA4128 116 GiB ition 3 16.0 MiB, chardev (240:0) [ 2.153345] kernel: mmcblk1boot0: mmc1:0001 DA4128 partition 1 4.00 MiB [ 2.153509] kernel: mmcblk1boot1: mmc1:0001 DA4128 partition 2 4.00 MiB [ 2.153627] kernel: mmcblk1rpmb: mmc1:0001 DA4128 partition 3 16.0 MiB, chardev (240:0)

is there a way to let FreeBSD works with this ? I was unable to make 12.1-RELEASE or 12.2-BETA to deal with it
Gianmarco

Gianmarco
sorry for the image but I am unable to copy and paste ;)
Gianmarco
could this be related to the fact this notebook has also a mmc card reader for external card and it is currently empty ?!
Vinod
try uncommenting or adding following lines to /boot/loader.conf mmc_load="YES" mmcsd_load="YES" sdhci_load="YES" then reboot and look at the output of this command : kldstat -v | grep mmc
Vinod
i think modules for mmcs aren't compiled
Gianmarco

I think i have to add them at loader prompt because I am not able to install so I dont have any rc.conf to edit being a stock freebsd iso

You need freebsd 13 current and its drm-current-kmod in order to make vega 11 work inside freebsd☕️
Andriy
Testing 12.2-RC1 became total fiasco 🙃
Nope, 2 days of findings and it is resurrected 😅
Andriy
And even updated to 12.2-RC2

Does freebsd pre cache stuff into ram? I've seen YouTube videos with neofetch and the more ram os has, the more it allocates in idle. 900/4000mb 3000/32000mb Just asking.

Ok
Krond
I was running ZFS on i386 512Mb amazon instance.
Krond
It evolved a lot since that statement.
Krond
7-8 years ago there was a huge issue for example with snapshots, you need to have all old and new ZFS object tree allocated in memory to remove the snapshot. For huge snapshot this could take over 8Gb of ram.
Krond
40Gb.
Krond
Well yeah, if you want to work with multi-Tb pool it's not wise to run on half-Gb of mem.
Martha
If I wanted to host a freebsd server on some cloud, where I could e.g. register a domain, have email, and serve some content, what would you recommend?
Krond
My personal favorite is hetzner.
