Should be covered by ure: https://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=ure&sektion=4&manpath=freebsd-release-ports
Arminio
Whyever it‘s sektion= and not section= for that .cgi

I have to say chaps, I'm still waiting for 'Aha" moment re: freebsd's performance
Anonymous
admittedly im comparing 2 VMs, but identical spec, one with vanilla ubuntu 20.04 the other freebsd 13
Anonymous
i've been testing the netwiork performance mostly, but aside from a general sluggishness and wont seem to do parallel builds in spite of my asing
Anonymous
could somebody show me where im going wrong here
Anonymous
i rahter assumed that bsd, if only for the lack of bloat, would perform slickl

and iwas always told the netstack was something particularly impressive

Anonymous
or is there some magic that some trminals can rendor photo images no
Neegan
I'm not sure, it's a python script, it's should work on the terminal, but I like using straw-viewer, I had to install it thru pip and change .bashrc to with tweaks to get it to work.

Hi friends, is there any way to dual or triple boot FuryBSD?

It doesn't feel as performant as I rather expected

I tried Netbsd yesterday, everything runs except for driver support like for my amdgpu :( , I hear you have to download Netbsd-current to get it to work, But I'm not sure how to do it.
Neegan
anyway, The things works on my PC, I hear from someone that it's best for laptops and network routers, but it feels so lightweight and smooth on a vm :D
Phil
Hey, Is telegram app desktop supported on freebsd ?
Phil
Thanks
Phil
And also is dm-crypt supported ?
Arminio
There's GELI on FreeBSD, what are you trying to do? :)
Phil
Yeah I just hoped if there was dm-crypt to decrypt my luks disk backup (created under Linux)
Phil
I will probably create a vm and copying my data through it
Phil
If I want to do a fresh install of freebsd which release should I use ? I don't understand clearly the difference between stable and releng
Phil
Thank you
Phil
Geli will store the key in the hardware cryptographic tool ?
Phil
In the default install ?
neb
I tried that. Ran Nomad 1.3.2 and then loaded up.BSD.lv as a pathway to binary upgrades to -STABLE/-CURRENT. I really see the need to build desktop from FreeBSD pure now.
neb
I needed to upgrade because I got a pretty new machine: https://bsd-hardware.info/index.php?probe=907e0da9a4 No touchpad, no sound externally, etc. I don't know how to get the proper drivers (or whether that's the issue). Also followed a few guides and now can't start X11. Or Slim.
neb
Are there logs somewhere on what conf's changed lately? I also built the latest kernel manually sometimes. Hoping that my screwing up of this system will be a learning tour as I slowly unscrew it. …or give up and see if Ghost works or build -CURRENT from source...
neb
Don't know how to troubleshoot anymore so I come here looking for input.

Has anyone here got Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition on Freebsd aside from doing thru wine?

If someone is interested in a quick and easy way to taste FreeBSD we made a group for NomadBSD which is a persistent live USB distro with ability to install to hardware. Great for testing compatibility. @NomadBSD_public https://nomadbsd.org/

Phil
hey please can someone help me to configure nvidia on Xorg on FreeBSD ?
Phil
oh thanks @Jharked999 cause I m a bit lost
Phil
first of all everybody talking about xorg.conf. Then I generate with Xorg -configure and when I run it by doing X -config xorg.conf.new it doesn't work at all, I had only a black screen
Phil
I don't know if the forum technics or man page about it, are still valid ?
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
Phil hmmm, have you watched this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6KxMUY2aTU
Phil
@n0madcoder this one not for the moment
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
In my case after following the steps shown in the video I just needed to add a nvidia.conf file in the xorg config directory
Phil
@n0madcoder how do you determine which graphic card is running ?
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
In a laptop using: DRI_PRIME=1 program_name Changes from using the discrete gpu from the microprocessor to the dedicated one
ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
In a desktop one... In my case I only have a nvidia card plugged to the output
Phil
Does this means that my Nvidia is supported ?
Phil
It doesn't help me
Phil
Do you think the problem comes from here ?
Phil
Oh fuck I rebooted it mountroot> appeared , then I rebooted and now I have this... Do I need to reinstall freebsd entirely ?
Phil
Now it's fine
Krond
Heck, you omitted the most interesting part…
Phil
@krond the funnier is that I doesn't know my partition name
Krond
Well I see a clear bug caused by software or hardware issues, it's not about mounting stuff.
Krond
(except if we have garbage there)
Phil
it's due to hardware ???
Krond
It may be, as I said you cropped the interesting part on top, about what process got a crash and what was the cause.
Phil
ah ok, sorry for the crop I was so depressed suddenly
Phil
yeah that's true
Phil
you always have good stickers
