In addition to OpenBSD, take a look at https://www.dragonflybsd.org/features and/or https://hardenedbsd.org/content/about to see some of the most interesting work (imo, of course) happening with *BSD currently.

if you have a ssd i recommend use zfs... ufs is horrible for ssd

Hi , am new to use bsd , icant make bootable usb , am using arch linux and used dd to make bootable usb drive but it didn't work
on freebsd, the images are not hibrid, you need download the ".img" file, the iso file is only for cd/dvd

I don’t know about parallel downloading. On the first question, no. They aren’t usually that slow. Not knowing where you are, your dns settings, and other things, it’s tough to figure out why it’s slow. Sometimes it can depend on the time of day, too.

I bet 99% of users going away from the 1st time of FreeBSD are scared to death because of endless reboots, because default UFS on stable, it goes witthout TRIM disabled and with SUJ enabled -> frequent fs corruption. FreeBSD enters endless reboot cycle. User goes away

I had this problem, and here's another example https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/62314/. and I bet there are many more
