https://blog.justinwflory.com/2015/10/year-linux-desktop-flock-2015-summary/ I don't think much has changed ?
Rereading this all now, I actually think it's still really true. The tl;dr is that everything we love about Linux is exactly why we won't have our year

Is there any recommended package to install for power managing in laptops? Or the default install should be fine
I'm studying this problem on my MacBook pro mid 2012. Powertop, it's not enough, in my opinion. I'm trying with Tuned (a daemon for monitoring and adaptive tuning of system devices) but I had to modify the file.rules to use it.

Yep, fedora is not really advanced in power management.

You can find Tuned on GitHubhttps://github.com/redhat-performance/tuned To modify the file.rules you must change the permission. If you'll any problems to install it, don't esitate to contact me

That's also, for better or worse, the advantages of Linux.

Oh yeah, korora is an excellent choice for normies...
Unfortunately xorg stopped working there and wayland was way too slow on korora, so i decided to return to fedora

Even if i am more than happy :)

Yep, they have to choose between fedora, ubuntu, suse, deb, rpm, flatpak, gnome xfce and so on

Really confusing

Yeah, but once they have a basic understanding of what Linux is, the possibilities are endless!

Oh :(; I hope you filed bug reports....
Well no in reality, korora was very slow in my machine compared to fedora and they didn't know how to help me because they said apart from themeing and apps there were no modification at all, so i just had enough and returned to fedora

Yeah, but once they have a basic understanding of what Linux is, the possibilities are endless!
I agree, but unfortunately this is not true for almost 70% users which probably still want the windows unique choice

I can't speak for them, but I was that way once too. Now I embrace Linux for the choices it offers, and dislike windows because it cramps that ability. (I mean, we have an NT/ Linux distro.)

Korora always performed quite poorly on all of my hardware, and I was somewhat frustrated at the presence of multiple duplicate sets of software. Other than those irks, it was pretty neat. Just a bit bloated.

247
12.01.2018
11:11:23
Well i can't deny it's bloated, but it's just it's scope

Give the user everything it could need without having to setup anything

It's just fedora it's better

And while (imho) people just value what's windows i just value what's better

When my friends says things like "yeah well i know deluge is better and transmission is lighter but you know, i'm used to the name"

A friend of mine was so used to the name that even didn't want me to install bittorrent, and everyone knows utorrent is a bt clone

in my opinion, if linux were as popular as windows is, it would be as insecure and bloated, if every app will release version for linux, every hacker will release a virus or cracking tool for it

i am happy linux is not popular in desktops

Since many popular Linux apps can be run in your GNOME terminal which graphical editions are not as needed, you are also mostly going to manage your system ESP running package managers in GNOME terminal if you are in Linux or FreeBSD, that’s a UNIX-like nature. In contrary Windows is too command line unfriendly and efforts null to security.

A related topic is if Gtk+ is too GNOME desktop focused and if GNOME is too Fedora or RHEL focused.

Red Hat also hosts the website for GNOME desktop and foundations.

Since Gnome is a GNU project with tons of parties contributing, unlikely.

redhat just happens to be one of the largest devtime and monetary helps in it.

Vlc is a legacy monster - slow, buggy and cant into modern features.

try playing a 4k file on a slightly too slow pc with it, i dare you.

jwf: dnf install mpv (fedora with rpmfusion) and https://mpv.io/

And you can add/configure a crapton, like scalers for low-res animated pictures that make them look better at larger sizes
