I know that Linux is very good on servers, and I have used Linux for a long time since 2007, but many things remain the same, and users want an alternative and ease like Windows, I believe that ReactOS has the power to do that.
Minorbit
As I mentioned, it is also evolving and growing every day. 😁

Guys, use the virtualbox video driver for any version.

i have a serious question
Mix
if ReactOS is the new TempleOS, is there a new way to say nigger?
Mix
And why does ReactOS’s pfp look like PornHub?
Mix
you sick perverted plagarists ever think you’re ruining the linux community with this shit? You’ve ruined how cool and unique reactos was.
Mix
change your icon back and sever your ‘a new templeos’ claim. unless you have explicit permission from a dead man, cut it out.

I really don't know what you are talking about PornHub 😇

The day ReactOS starts flawlessly reading and writing NTFS partitions, I hope there will be a documented way to change the %ProgramFiles%, %ProgramData% and the C:\Users path before install, as it would be very nice to install it on the same partition as Windows.

Btrfs seems to be an excellent file system, however not having to deal with splitting partitions to make way for a new experimental OS is the best experience I can think of, until ReactOS is ready to entirely substitute Windows and run my essential software tools: Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird, LibreOffice and Microsoft OneDrive.

And I know that running an experimental OS on the same machine your main OS is installed can be risky, even more if on the same partition, but I can take risks as I have backups (OneDrive works like a simple backup tool, with restore options and file versions history).

Idk. Windows does not like dual booting, even with itself. It was common during XP times, many people had a 98se/me and XP dual boot, but it's rare nowadays
That's because of the %%ProgramFiles% and %ProgramData% folders (Windows creates new users' folders under C:\Users, such as C:\Users\Public.<appended name> instead of using C:\Users\Public, for example, but it doesn't do that with the other folders). Also, Windows Vista added a feature to System Restore that was incompatible with and was lost whenever XP's System Restore accessed the partition Vista was installed, but that was all). System Restore is not a feature needed to run software under Windows, it's just a (not so) healing factor for the system that also added File Version History on the volumes it activated (the FVH was deprecated on Windows 10 once Microsoft decided to bundle OneDrive with it, with a way more long lasting FVH since the files are stored on the cloud, yes, but toking away user's options to have it locally). In fact, backup programs have to be written in a way they don't mess with it.

works fine for me on opensuse

Just ability to easily reinstall over a damaged configuration would help enough (Microsoft removed this in windows 10 and 11, pure stupidity)
I think we can still reinstall over Windows 10 and 11, provided the ISO file is of the same build number or higher.
Daniel "TheReimi"
We do so very often to fix installs. This still works fine. Only nitpick: You need to start the install off the Windows you wanna overwrite
João Paulo
I think we can still reinstall over Windows 10 and 11, provided the ISO file is of the same build number or higher.
But I think Windows (and ReactOS too) could have a feature to rebuild itself way faster and easier, as many system instabilities are not from a system DLL overwritten anymore, but from registry settings that were overwritten or erased. The sandbox feature Windows has uses a fresh registry database to run apps, this database can be used as a basis for rebuilding settings without the need for reinstalling everything. Software installed with MSI packages can have their registry settings easily rebuilt with a single command line, and that's way faster than reinstalling all files. This could be "glued" together to repair the registry with known good values from the first setup and sequentially repairing all programs that were installed with an MSI package.
