The OG Xbox was Intel based huh
Anas
TIL
Mike
Iirc, some hybrid pentium3/celeron CPU
Mike
Still x86
Anas
Nice
Mike
I don't remember if the video card was based on a GeForce or a tnt2
Anas
What about PS2?
Mike
Nice
Yes, it was a good htpc at the time
Mike
What about PS2?
Maybe MIPS? Idk, too long time
Anas
Yes, it was a good htpc at the time
I wish we could turn the last gen consoles into one
Mike
I wish we could turn the last gen consoles into one
No, I wish they released a GeForce 2010 or an equivalent Radeon, a basic video card with av1 and hevc 8k support
Mike
So I could upgrade a few old rigs and keep using them as HTPC. If you use dxva, the load of decoding goes to the video card, so even a c2d or a64x2 is enough for 4k.
Anas
Oh
Mike
If you don't have it, an i5 750 manages to play up to 25Mbps hevc files, with 95% CPU usage for all 4 cores, but still no stutters.
Anas
Oh
Anas
That'd be perfect for my PC
Matrix Telegram Bridge
BieHDC#5597: that makes no sense
Anas
A core 2 quad Q9550
Mike
And that's one of the reasons I believe in reactos and haiku, less overhead
Matrix Telegram Bridge
BieHDC#5597: who wrote that decoder
Mike
I use(d) mpc-be. That rig has a Radeon 6450, so no hw support at all. I don't remember if the file was a 10 bit hevc, though
Mike
Now it's temporarily parked elsewhere, since I changed it with a i3 8100

Mike
this is called PC
yes, it's easier to build a htpc nowadays
Mike
and it can also consume less energy, too
Anas
Yes I know
Anas
Thanks to AMD

yes, it's easier to build a htpc nowadays
A PS3 should be enough even for h265. The Cell is crazy powerful
Anas
Isn't cell a bit complicated?
static
Yes
Mike
Isn't cell a bit complicated?
it is great for vectorial calculus, iirc.
static
It was insane for its time but really underused
Mike
one thing i don't like about recent powerpc implementations: many of these lack altivec. altivec is absurdly fast in vectorial, so a recent, multicore ppc with altivec would be amazing.
Mike
It was insane for its time but really underused
i remember toshiba spursengine, x86 notebooks with a cell inside. sadly there were no programs which used it
Mike
but at the time the opteron/cell combination were used frequently in supercomputers
static
RISCV's vector extensions are a ton simpler than ARM's and x86'd, yet they look as powerful
Mike
risc v could be a great arch.
static
They replaced it with new Vector instructions iirc
Nvm, it's an extension over AltiVec
static
Still 128 bit but with a ton more instructions
static
The best vector architecture I've seen is Broadcom's VPU. It's quite weird but also really powerful
static
It has even a 2D register file

Hello
Anas
Any of guys know what reposting means in odysee.com?
Anas
I can see that if I repost a vid, it gets uploaded to your channel too but if the original is deleted, will the reposts get deleted too?
Can

I'm 20 now lmao

literal watchlist bait
Anas
Good good
Anas
Hell yea
Aman Pinto
ReacOS is still in beta, right?
Aman Pinto
Or is it daily driver worthy?
Anas
Alpha
Anas
Not yet beta
Aman Pinto
Why does it seem to progress so slow?
Anas
Because there aren't many developers
Aman Pinto
Oh
Anas
And not much donations to hire more developers
Aman Pinto
If I'm not wrong it runs Windows programs and stuff, right?
Anas
Yea
Aman Pinto
And not much donations to hire more developers
Ngl, they should sell the project to OpenSUSE or Canonical
Anas
Its binary compatible with the NT kernel or something
