I think a lot of machines get black screen on bootCD
Anonymous
You can manually format hdd to fat32, then copy liveCD contents to it Then you need to change something in system registry hive And remove /minint from all boot entries in boot.ini file
Anonymous
Something like that
Alejandro Jeditobe
blackscreen while booting from cd/usb/anything
Do not try to boot from USB/SD, it is not supported
Alejandro Jeditobe
Disable UEFI before tests
Anonymous
He should disable UEFI and try CD again
Alejandro Jeditobe
He tried CD so...
>blackscreen while booting from cd/usb/anything
Alejandro Jeditobe
What is ReactOS version?
Alejandro Jeditobe
too old
Alejandro Jeditobe
too old
Alejandro Jeditobe
https://reactos.org/getbuilds/ use night build of 0.4.15
Alejandro Jeditobe
0.4.13 is based on sources that are more than 18 months old
Alejandro Jeditobe
okay
Stas'M
no
Alejandro Jeditobe
x64 barely works
Petrus
Boot from usb
Alejandro Jeditobe
Boot from usb
With RAM boot method
Alejandro Jeditobe
no!
Alejandro Jeditobe
https://reactos.org/wiki/Installing_ReactOS#USB-RAM_boot
Alejandro Jeditobe
4.3.3 USB-RAM boot
Alejandro Jeditobe
the ONLY possible way to boot from USB
Alejandro Jeditobe
yes
Alejandro Jeditobe
but the order does not matter, there ara no files with same names
Alejandro Jeditobe
root directory of usb should look like this
Alejandro Jeditobe
be sure that you properly put the correct name of iso file into INI file
Alejandro Jeditobe
okay
Stas'M
what is your hard disk controller?
Stas'M
try switching to IDE mode in BIOS
Alejandro Jeditobe
it is not recommended to make dual boot system
Alejandro Jeditobe
do not install reactos on pc with your important data!
Alejandro Jeditobe
show bios settings
Stas'M
SATA Operation — what are other modes besides AHCI?
Stas'M
Use it
Stas'M
Alejandro Jeditobe
no! But you will probably purge it during ReactOS installation
Eris
oh dear, what am i witnessing here
Alejandro Jeditobe
Hmm you should be REALLY careful
Petrus
Do you even know what "machine in production" means?
Alejandro Jeditobe
And ReactOS 100% will make your current boot loader or boot manager inoperative
Eris
this is a kamikaze operation and whatever the reactos setup does, if you lose your data YOU'RE responsible for not being careful either grab a new hard drive or use a VM
Alejandro Jeditobe
it will not, because you can swich it back
Petrus
Or get an old laptop to try ReactOS there
Alejandro Jeditobe
Or make a full backup before the experiment!
Eris
Eris
or do what alejandro said use livecd
Eris
livecd
Eris
pls
Alejandro Jeditobe
no
Eris
ok and
Alejandro Jeditobe
ReactOS could be installed only on first primary partition!
Alejandro Jeditobe
anything else is not guaranted
Alejandro Jeditobe
Because of alpha version
Alejandro Jeditobe
You may loose all your data if you try to install it not on primary partition
Alejandro Jeditobe
Nice to read ^)
Alejandro Jeditobe
But still be careful while triing to set it up ^)
Stas'M
Your question is full of heresy
deivid
I think no, I think if you want work better, read windows internals
deivid
the book windows internals 6 for example, explain how work windows
Stas'M
Chungy
"finally"? heh
Chungy
it is in alpha.
Alejandro Jeditobe
What do you mean?
Alejandro Jeditobe
Any way I have warned you multiple times to be careful 🙂
Alejandro Jeditobe
Okey
Chungy
Just means that it's totally possible for it to destroy all disks it sees.
Chungy
VMs are great for this reason
Can
Twitter started to recommend #ReactOS hashtag!
Can
Keep on retweeting and we may increase our popularity more :)
rosbridge
<Fraizeraust> Yeah the GCC build has regressed. It always expects a debugger to be connected with the machine even on a normal boot.
rosbridge
<Fraizeraust> Which it shouldn't ask for that.
rosbridge
<hbelusca (Gmunu=8PiG/c4Tmunu+)> That's a minor regression in the sense that it still bsods as it would do.
Chungy
Does that mean having a serial line plugged in or?
Chungy
I do see serial output on the normal boot, otherwise no complaints.
Chungy
rosbridge
<hbelusca (Gmunu=8PiG/c4Tmunu+)> yeah that line is from freeldr debugging system itself.
Jeff
Is boot from USB stick working from nightly?
