Most shit from the last 10 years is 64 bit

Omg 2020 and there's still people using x86 processors
Jeff
I bought my first athlon 64 on 2003

With 4Gb ram and an ATI Radeon 5400. A beast back then.

So, what is window snap?
Jeff
Chungy
huh. window snapping makes me think the feature more typical on Linux WMs, where windows will snap to each other when you put them against :P
Eris
I think it's comparable with aero snap that became a thing with Vista or 7, still a thing today

Chungy
you can probably get a 64-bit PC from a dumpster these days
Chungy
also it's doubtful that ReactOS will discontinue a 32-bit version any time soon. Especially not before WoW64 is working.
rosbridge
<Cernodile> You can get 64bit for cheap from companies or schools migrating to new equipment too. Many with respectable CPUs still, like an i5-4590 or down to the first i-series
rosbridge
<Cernodile> It won't break bank and is sold usually under a hundred, some even 20-30 buckaroos for whole systems
Daniel "TheReimi"
Don't forget that we still need 32 bit binaries for wow64 and thus it has to be maintained anyways.
Alessandro
64bit are great news, but makes little sense without WoW64 honestly
Anonymous
Well, I don't know why y'all are impressed by 64bit x86 coming to ROS, as it's something that was (and still is) experimental and yet to be in a release since it's something that needs a lot of time, and testing to actually work.
I think that there's still a lot of bugs opened in JIRA that are still waiting to be resolved
Problems that'll multiply like crazy with this announcement

You mean, a freaking single core with hyperthreading that performs worse than a Pentium IV

With only 2GB of single channel DDR3 @something like 800 or 1066 ?

That one looks like a Ferrari compared to @x86corez 's netjunk

Is it a money problem, or just that you do not care ?

Super Power!
Will it run ReactOS? Hmm🤔
Anonymous
Not fine, at least
Anonymous
If it utilises half of your RAM, you're lucky, and it's probably the same for your CPU
ROS only supports well monocore CPUs, and ignores all the rest

Super Power!
Will it run ReactOS? Hmm🤔
But GhostBSD and Linux for absolutely sure
My laptop has been super power too, 14.9GiB RAMs, 931GiB SSD, nVidia graphics, even though my cores are little lower than you
And, how much SSD’s do you have? Exceeding 931GiB?

That'll help latency, and improve throughput performance a bit

Sure, hence why SSD > all
So why i’d just look for SSD’s, and i’ve had one and dnt need more until new laptops are come to me

So why i’d just look for SSD’s, and i’ve had one and dnt need more until new laptops are come to me
An SSD is something that brings so much advantages to the table that it can't be forgotten.
Everything feels snappier on an SSD, no noise, no vibration, no heat (except PCIe SSDs) less power consumption, and it's getting cheaper than a 1TB HDD (it'll happen soon)
You can get a 240GB SSD for like 25-30€ here in EU
And 480-500GB are like 35-40€
1TB are roughly 55-60€ depending on the quality, can be more or less

Working as shit as always, 1 core, and even more unstable than regular 32b
