Accurate
Chungy
I guess someone did a goof
Chungy
Chungy
I think it might be qemu that changed.
Alisson
same issue here
Chungy
I don't really remember when it last worked but I'm pretty sure I was using it last month :b
Alisson
same issue with 0.4.12, 0.4.13 RC and latest 0.4.14 build
Alisson
so yeah, the issue is QEMU fault
Chungy
maybe. QEMU was last updated on December 14 though, I'm not sure it really is QEMU's fault.
Chungy
yeah i built qemu 4.1.1 and it works
Alisson
maybe reactos is using some feature that has been removed from qemu 4.2.0
Chungy
features aren't often removed from qemu. Video adapters emulated do get changed sometimes, though -M pc-i440fx-4.1 should have the exact same configuration as 4.1's default.
Chungy
and that fails. so I'm pretty sure it's a new qemu regression
Chungy
https://github.com/qemu/qemu/commit/0221d73ce6a8e075adaa0a35a6ef853d2652b855
Chungy
first bad commit, and the responsibility passes off to seabios apparently. great
Mark
Why use qemu?
Mark
It's slow as shit
Chungy
no it isn't
Chungy
I use it mainly because it's simple and easy (and yes, fast)
Mark
Since when is it fast?
Chungy
for over a decade i'd say
Mark
Did they start using vt-x etc?
Chungy
since around 2008
Mark
Guess I didn't know the magical 3000 character command line to make it run decent
Chungy
-enable-kvm
Chungy
all in all, qemu-system-i386 -enable-kvm -m 1g -cdrom livecd.iso bam. easy, none of the GUI stuff that gets in the way
Mark
Lemme guess, enable-kvm only works on h4ck3r os
Chungy
sure why not

I've heard about some-nutty-name-I-can't-remember working on Windows to get the same effect
hacker12455
Isn't KVM on Windows too?
hacker12455
At least I think I had it
hacker12455
Oh I think it was HAXM
Andrew
I've heard about some-nutty-name-I-can't-remember working on Windows to get the same effect
QEMU accelerators for Windows: hax for Intel HAXM, whpx for Windows Hypervisor Platform (preferred on recent Windows 10).
Chungy
yeah those
Anonymous
KVM is just much more usable though
Anonymous
Isn't KVM on Windows too?
It runs on just about anything
Stas'M
KVM is a Linux specific thing, maybe somebody tried to port it on Windows, but I've never heard of that
Stas'M
(that's about Kernel Virtual Machine, not "Keyboard Video Mouse")

Well, as there are frontends to make it working on Windows, I guess it must be working on windows

hint: ReactOS CJK package in RAPPS 😁
Anonymous
this look so broken oof
Chungy
that's probably a good hint
Chungy
much better
Chungy
i recall I once proposed including unifont from the get-go but it was rejected :b
Stas'M
i recall I once proposed including unifont from the get-go but it was rejected :b
Too heavy to include 😅 But it probably could be added to RAPPS as a package as well
Chungy
doesn't quite solve the issue of being unreadable in stages like the early setup
Anonymous

The package will need to be included at some points anyway
Chungy
I got told that too, but I don't think it's the right answer.
Chungy
the decision was made anyway
Anonymous
Huh? CJK package is already here
I'm talking to integrate it in the ISO itself, how can a japanese get that far if he doesn't understand what he is doing ?
Stas'M
There will be a guide at the wiki
Anonymous
In release ISO — maybe, but still I doubt about that
If they don't integrate it, just remove every single japanese translation and the option to install it in japanese for now
