I don't understand if regression 14955 is fixed or not.
Esteban

Esteban
Yeah but is it definitely fixed or did reactosfanboy apply a revert like he did with previous versions?

I think there might be software called ReactOS Update.
Anonymous
I think there might be software called ReactOS Update.
That's something a lot of people would like to see, so dev builds are auto updated, like files getting changed depending of the commits or something
Anonymous
At the very least, RAPPS need an updater for its apps
Anonymous
The core OS updater might be impossible, but RAPPS updater is important
rosbridge
<Cernodile> What are you smoking now, it's literally in list of things to implement at some point
rosbridge
<Cernodile> OS updates have been partially worked on as well
Anonymous
<Cernodile> OS updates have been partially worked on as well
Well, if that can easily be done, that's great to see, looking forward
rosbridge
<Cernodile> Mainly in USETUP, but it's just files update rn iirc

rosbridge
<hbelusca> the thing in usetup is indeed just for files, while keeping your registry settings unchanged.

Tasted ROS under Linux VBox👍😋
Leon
Hey.
Leon
Is there a way to run IE11 on ReactOS? :v
Anonymous
Well, it's not possible, as IE11 requires NT 6.1 compliance. And ReactOS targets NT 5.2 right now... However, Firefox for Windows XP and Server 2003 works, along with older versions of Chromium/Google Chrome iirc
Anonymous
Also I think it's the first time I didn't say bullshit, didn't I @x86corez
rosbridge
<Cernodile> older versions of Firefox* other than that seems ok, I guess
rosbridge
<Cernodile> Firefox also officially discontinued long ago
Anonymous
Well, yeah, the 52.9.0esr is the last officially supported version in 2017 iirc, but there are some issues to get it running on ReactOS

Try KDE’s Falkon for Windows on ROS😊

Try KDE’s Falkon for Windows on ROS😊
Yup, pretty much one of the last full featured browsers for ROS/XP
✝️ ☺️🌞 HD Scania
I spoof ROS to be WinVista and this just works😎

Oh its more about the Internet Explorer bugs. Thank you for the tip though. I develop websites and having ReactOS would have seemed like an intresting alternative to running Windows yknow :v

Keep in mind that IE is alive at least for 10 more years... Windows 10 LTSC 2019 and Windows Server 2019 still including it
Anonymous
And IE as Office follows Windows's lifecycle
Chungy
You could try seeing if IE11 installs on ReactOS, but it's probably doubtful it will
Chungy
for web development, this is probably simpler: https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/tools/vms/
Anonymous

Well, the latest IE that would run is IE9 32bit version (with some tweaks to do)
Chungy
wasn't what he was asking. Do people actually test IE enough to notice compatibility on ReactOS?
Anonymous

Well, up to IE 8 it's absolutely fine (assuming you install all the needed stuff) For IE 9, it's far from perfect, but the core is working fine
Anonymous
Also there's a "Wine Internet Explorer" built-in but it uses the Gecko engine iirc
Anonymous
I've seen rare cases when IE 8 for example loads sites fine in XP/2003 R2 and/or Vista/2008 and/or 7/2008 R2. But one of those doesn't load them because of weird stuff I don't know
Camarada Gato
Are there still those sites that only work on Internet Slow Explorer?
Anonymous
But then anyways, IE 11 (the only supported version today) is only recommended for specific workloads (like intranet, and non HTML5/CSS3 web sites. It doesn't support WebGL, but it does support JVMs and Flash (deprecated in 2021 iirc)
Anonymous

There's a few iirc But one of the biggest, which was the Microsoft Update Catalog now works on every web browser
Chungy
all this is a distraction from Leon's request :P

Yes it is, however his question got answers imo, he may ask more if he wants

Damn brother, such an old browser and full of security holes.
Well IE 11 is still supported, I think it's pretty much safe to say that it can still be used as a daily driver
Anonymous
But as time goes on, more and more websites will blacklist it
Chungy
IE11 only sees sparse security updates. It's pretty deficient as a "daily driver"
Chungy
it's pretty rare to configure servers to actually block browsers, but they'll just use features that IE11 doesn't support.
Anonymous

Well YouTube is telling IE users to switch for a while as they will do only HTML5 support in some time
Chungy
good for youtube

Facebook and Twitter are also mostly broken
Anonymous
I don't have a Facebook or Instagram account, but I tried without logging in, most content wouldn't load
Chungy
reality of the current web is that if you don't have an updated Firefox or Chromium, you're basically dead in the water for support.
Chungy
there's not that many engines though, and that's the important bit.
Chungy
Largely, there's Gecko (Firefox) and Blink (Chromium)
Chungy
Chromium being the basis of Chrome, Brave, Opera, Edge, and a few others.
Anonymous
?
Edge will die and become another Chromium stuff
Chungy

why did you say thankfully
Because it was redundant
