One question...How can i connect from ReactOS to other ReactOS in network to read remote Registry There is some implemented function? Need rights special rights?
In Windows there's usually RemoteRegistry service for that, but I believe it's not implemented in ReactOS
Jose
ok
Jose
Whats is source file in ReactOS about registry implementation where i can learn more about it?
Stas'M
ok
workaround: 1. Start VNC server on remote ReactOS 2. Connect from one ReactOS to another ReactOS via VNC 3. Change registry via regedit

are you sure you need registry implementation? 🤔 that's basically a huge part of kernel
Jose
Not, only learn how it is implemented, how access differents hives, read, write... i dont need to learn the huge amount of entries and values it store.
Jose
But dont worry i will download all source code in github and search for it.

The kernel part is config manager (CM): https://github.com/reactos/reactos/tree/master/ntoskrnl/config
Jose
ok, thanks.
Stas'M
The usermode registry APIs are mostly in advapi32 if I remember correctly
Stas'M
If you have any questions about its internal implementation, better ask Hermes (hbelusca) on Mattermost chat
Jose
I suppouse that a most of registry unit in freepascal will work with reactos as in win...
Jose
ok, thakyou very much.

Hello Folks, I want to install ReactOS on my notebook. 1. Partition: Can it be installed in logical partition ? 2. Boot Loader: Would it override my GRUB2 ? I have already has Void Linux and GhostBSD in my notebook. Thank you 🙏🏽.
rosbridge
<BieHDC> so i assume your notebook has only one hard drive. you cant directly install to just a partition yet, but you can mount the partition desired as a raw virtual disk and do stage 1 install in virtualbox. then you would manually add an entry to grub2 which loads reactos. https://www.serverwatch.com/server-tutorials/using-a-physical-hard-drive-with-a-virtualbox-vm.html
Alisson
I did exactly the same here, but the problem is that my PC can not boot ReactOS from the latest versions (I already tried from bootable USB too, but no success). On new ROS versions, I just get a blank screen after the initial boot part (when ROS loads the kernel, initial drivers, etc). In older ReactOS versions I was able to see boot screen with ReactOS logo. But in the newer versions I can't even see ReactOS logo.
Alisson
I guess something broke the compatibility with my hardware
Stas'M
You'd need to search for guilty commit that introduced the regression then 🤔
Alisson
Download some builds and test them
Alisson
First I will download some releases and test
Alisson
So I will get a range of builds to test

Too abstract question, be more specific

React os collect info of user ??
Eris
why would a open source project do that? if anything, it may collect the most basic things, like what computer you have, and so on
Anonymous
Like IP adresse and visited site

Android is a open source os and is doing that

Android is a open source os and is doing that
Open source software != free software

Can I make bootcd without rebuilding the whole thing?
Sumi Bleckie
And, hybridcd is both livecd and bootcd allinone? Or what? ;)
Stas'M
Can I make bootcd without rebuilding the whole thing?
Once you have built the whole thing, on next builds it uses incremential build (it doesn't build components which were not modified from the last time)
Stas'M

Yes, hybridcd is livecd + bootcd, but I'm not sure whether it still works 😅
Stas'M
hbelusca worked on it

if you turned on your brain (which, by this point i assume you dont have anymore), you'd look inside the source code of android, and check if they do send your info to some NSA server
Eris
it really doesnt hurt to use that gigantic thing inside your skull
