Tobiyo
lol hurd is a meme, i agree with mike tho this doesn't seem to explain the growth of UnknownOS(tm)
Chungy
It's probably just something dumb like a web browser not including an OS in its user agent strings. smart TVs or Nintendo or something

Nintendo has their own OSes; Wii and Wii U have one line that ended with the Wii U. Nintendo Switch has another line of their OS that has lineage from the DSi and 3DS.
Chungy
talking of the other consoles. PS4 runs FreeBSD and Xbox One runs a variant of Windows 10
Tobiyo
so if those don't include in os in their user agent string that could explain it indeed
Mike
Yes, i forgot about this! And I think it's a good number of devices
Tobiyo
then we need those nag those smart tv guys to include os in their user agent strings :^3

Anyway we have our nice NTVDM ☺️
Stas'M
It only lacks Wn 3.x app support
rosbridge
<Cernodile> Why remove functionality like that, it doesn't even have to be actively maintained.
rosbridge
<BieHDC> guess that shit was causing issues
Chungy
also Wine completely removed support for DOS programs in the interim between stable releases. It was always shaky, depends (like DOSEMU) on modifying conventional memory which is disabled by default on modern kernels, and things work better in DOSBox, which it'll automatically launch for them now. so heh.
Chungy
it barely supported basic one-off programs, full screen or graphical ones were basically not going to work anyway.
Chungy
That's why
Chungy
DOS support in Wine was never a priority.
rosbridge
<BieHDC> why should they when you can run it in dosbox anyway
rosbridge
<Cernodile> I suppose it's better for wine in long run
rosbridge
<Cernodile> 1 less component to support when there's a very well done alternative out there for it
Chungy
That's the point :P older versions would automatically launch DOSBox if your kernel couldn't support running them directly, now it launches DOSBox automatically always
Chungy
if you really want the Linux equivalent of NTVDM (a thin wrapper around BIOS services), you'd run DOSEMU with the kernel configured appropriately.

Why is the ReactOS x64 LiveCD not successfully started in the VirtualBox? Is this due to incorrect virtual machine configuration or operating system not supported?

How new hardware does react os support?

If so, I tested reactos on z97+4790k.

I mean Kaby Lake or Apollo Lake

A lot of sacrifices

And a lot of goat blood

x86 platform has a lot of compatibility

so unless you can switch to legacy bios boot, it will probably work

React os works very badly on GPT driver?

I hope ReactOS will run on devices like the Raspberry Pi. I think it is better for ReactOS.
