anyway with that out of the way.........how does reactos compare to wine on linux? for example are there apps that work better under reactos compared to wine?

No, the compatibility of wine is better.

I have tried to run some windows applications on Wine and CrossOver, such as IE, Tencent TIM (an online chat software in China), found that they can run correctly, but it can not run under ReactOS.

ReactOS is a complete OS, and it is difficult to achieve compatibility with Windows, but Wine is easier (This is just a comparison. It is also difficult for Wine to be perfectly compatible with Windows.).

Wine also has a benefit of being able to rely on a complete OS to start with. ReactOS has to build everything up with graphics support, printers, dongles, whatever...

Support for real hardware, Linux Kernel has done well. For Windows support, he/she only need to integrate Wine.

what's funny is that Microsoft apparently has their own internal Wine-like solution, only based on the real Windows code. They use it in the "Linux port" of MS SQL Server :P

I hope that Microsoft can contribute code to Wine. In this way, Wine can benefit, and some of the source code from Wine's ReactOS can also benefit.

wine also easy to fix if something happened, just receate .wine or any wineprefix, able to set different settings in one pc and run simultaneously

Arwinss branch has diverged from master long time ago, it would be a huge pain in the arse to sync it
