c++ has poor error management techniques

and go is too immature to fully see the holes in the code

exceptions in C++ are broken still

they do not provide enough information

but even if you do manage to set up exceptions with a way to provide a lot of information about what caused the problem

you have a function so deeply nested it is completely illegible

a server that connects and controls a few robotic applications

i have to use CIP for that as well

haskell does not have a CIP protocol unfortunately so i had to make one myself for that

on the client side i used CIPSter

for the devices capable of running C++

for the plc ladder logic we have a library like thing for CIP

so we used that

well i believe we use basic and communicate with the PLC there

and then basic has the library with CIP

oh very much so for several reasons

only disadvantage is that normally functional programming langauges are slower performance wise

but we are getting to a level that is starting to get minimized

with the compilers becoming smarter

because there is something to learn there

software is getting much much worse

we are oversaturating it with poorly trained people

this in turn will drive the money and jobs available down

and most of those things you learn there is shit, and sometimes you get a diamond in that shit

on stack overflow they had this one post that said one thing

i told the guy to do it another way

and that guy did it the stack overflow way

and we lost half the data

this is completely false the bigger companies actually attract the lower skilled workers

because they work on what the investors want as opposed to working on what is interesting to the developers

and few people get into the good areas in these big companies

from seeing some of the people they hired

they hire some pretty shitty programmers

they care WAY WAY WAY more about political correctness now

so that skill level will drop

in fact there are public documents stating that google actually lowers the standard of coding for these minority groups

which they interally set themselves
