i tried, but it's boring
BinaryByter
how is it more boring than C?
Anonymous
because C functions for string manipulations are fun
Anonymous
well, they are until something goes wrong
BinaryByter
they are disgusting
BinaryByter
unironically using those in production software is dumb
Anonymous
but if i learn to fix the errors, that won't be an issue any more
BinaryByter
there will
BinaryByter
You will always screw up
Anonymous
and then i'll fix things again and again
BinaryByter
and if you screw up you better want a language that tells you when you do something wrong
BinaryByter
and then i'll fix things again and again
thats the most unprofessional coding attitude i've seen
BinaryByter
well done!
Anonymous
i'm 15, i shouldn't care
BinaryByter
i'm 16 (recently became 16) and I do care
Anonymous
i have plenty of time to learn all the ""professional coding attitudes""
BinaryByter
you have 4 years
BinaryByter
then you will study
BinaryByter
university won't teach you good coding
BinaryByter
it will teach you computer science
BinaryByter
then you will get a job
BinaryByter
your first impression will be how well you code
BinaryByter
if you go there with your outdated language
Anonymous
it will teach you computer science
funny how you assume that i will do computer science in university
Anonymous
ignoring every other degree
BinaryByter
funny how you assume that i will do computer science in university
Well if you want to become a programmer and you want to learn more than just "unprofessional typing"
BinaryByter
BUt even if you study something else:
BinaryByter
you don't get more than 3 years
BinaryByter
and trust me:
BinaryByter
if you want to spend those three years constantly behind a debugger, have fun!
klimi
BinaryByter
there's a reason why C++ exists
Anonymous
you are the one saying that in 3 years i will learn C and then nothing else
Anonymous
as i said, i need C for Lua
BinaryByter
Dima
lol says the 15 y.o. person
Dima
GG
Anonymous
Well, it's not a big time period
it isn't, but it's not 1 month
Anonymous
and i can study even during university
Anonymous
and after lmao
Anonymous
what lmao
BinaryByter
university is VERY VERY involving
Anonymous
i know it
BinaryByter
You won't have time to code
BinaryByter
unless you are a crazy coder
Francisco
university is VERY VERY involving
You're 16, what can you know e.e
Anonymous
depends on how i manage my free time
BinaryByter
You're 16, what can you know e.e
Lol i get to see students regularly
Anonymous
i don't do much now beside playing DotA and learning C
BinaryByter
You should learn C++
Anonymous
no
Anonymous
it's maybe the third time that i say it
BinaryByter
it will enable you to code older languages AND newer modern langauges
Pavel
university is VERY VERY involving
Well, it depends. I learned a lot in my free time during university.
BinaryByter
Learning C is stupid nowadays
Francisco
Lol i get to see students regularly
Being a student is another thing. I have time to study other stuff
BinaryByter
C++ != C
it almost is
BinaryByter
or rather:
BinaryByter
you can almost code C in C++
Anonymous
Learning C is stupid nowadays
2 really smart people told me
Anonymous
that C was a good language to learn
BinaryByter
2 really smart people told me
yea, the 90ies called they wanted to have them back
Francisco
Learning C is stupid nowadays
I disagree. There're devices that can't be programmed with C++, and C is usually the way to go
BinaryByter
Once you know C++ you can very easily go back to C with just a few days of training
Pavel
Well, there's nothing bad in learning C if a person wants so and thinks it's fun.
klimi
klimi is sad
BinaryByter
says a 16 y/o
with a bigger CV than your last homework submission 😉

good luck learning C string manipulation knowing of std::string
