Yeah sure, but I don't like generalizations. that's why I love C and C++ because it always depends on how you do it
The problem raises if you have someone in your company who decided to do it the shit way and after that left the company without documentation - or even better, you decided to do the shit way by accident and doing even more debugging than usual - and embedded is MUCH debugging already

absolutely !

I still don't agree with generalizations, and I fell being able to use templates in embedded is definately not the shit way per se. In the end this is basically Torvald's argument against C++ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I know.. I've worked in embedded as well

@ollirz I think every one of us is against generalizations. But experience has shown that some coding techniques are suited for different tasks. In low level, I share the opinion of @shell_0. Templates or any fancy C++ stuff *can* (and almost every time will) bring you pain. Especially if you are the developer who has to repair the damage, that has been done
Anonymous
I had some of those tasks by myself to clean up shit... I got a bit wiser with time :)

In many cases our CI denied if there was a lack of documentation
Anonymous
@ollirz "I only worked on "safety" related stutt were a certified" Call yourself a lucky person. I worked with some "geniuses" and had to maintain their code after they left the company...

Documentation was the source code

Who want to work with me?

I work mostly in IT Security and OS dev, and we have also stuff like CI etc. But there are still enough idiots who fucked things up. We had much headache.
