and while it's true that some distros are lighter, that's completely beside my point; all I'm saying is that if you are running an app that your device can't really handle, it 99.999% of the time won't work under any other OS either
so imo it's pointless to go about and bash windows or linux if your device is the culprit. don't expect your Atom to perform like an i7.

But in basic tasks.
If the UI lags, then you chose software wrong for your hardware.
I don't want UI on my devices to lag, stall, glitch, etc., that is why I use quite light builds of Linux for all of my hardware.
On 3 out of 4 computers I use daily, Windows 7 doesn't work acceptable for my preferences.
