They have pretty good cpu's, but a lot of cores and low frequency. Gecko, which could utilize only one core, feels bad on mobile cpu.

Gecko can use more than one cpu core since forever

there are one or two proprietary things I can see by quick look, and the "system changeover" seems to be changed icons and resized panel ;) doesn't seem too drastic to me

No,, i was just trying yesterday to install an app from source and it requires cmake version 3.8 or latee as i remember So it downloadee it

The version of cmake in repository is 3.7.5 so i downloaded this file of latest version, that's it
