Aaaand we have the first kernel update!
I always find it amusing for the times when I upgrade early, the number of package upgrades that suddenly land **after** the public release

It's not like a huge amount, but… it's still more than the "usual". :P

Also, can somebody explain to me why the File manager icon changes on every release, in a way that overwrites the numix icon?
Even if it doesn't change, I change icon theme because the default gnome is awful to look at

If you have really limited screen space, you may consider checking out one of many tiling window managers, they usually have very small titlebars or don't have them at all, and everything runs as maximized or automatically tiled by default; very popular choice is i3

Worth the trouble if a user takes time to learn it...

Michał
12.07.2017
10:04:24
Well you should say that i3 needs some time to handle it ?
it's not for everybody - it is less user friendly IMHO, and it makes the computer handle window placement automatically with some keyboard shortcuts, for exampel I don't like it but tastes are different

I had to use it once because nouveau was fucked up and Nvidia drivers didn't want to work, so i3 was the only desicion because there I don't have a lagfest like I have with others

depends on the user ;p I know how to use it, but I have to have full control over windows all the time to feel comfortable, tiling window managers are taking this control from me by design ;)

Yet u still recommend, so obvly there are some pros...
I understand that people may like it, and I understand the appeal, I also understand that people may like certain foods which I don't really like, doesn't mean I'm not going to say that one may try it ;)

It is rock solid, never had any problems with it, has all the features I need, doesn't change much between releases, and for work I need something I can depend on

Michał
12.07.2017
10:11:12
KDE is awesome but sometimes from release to release stuff happened like menu bar got hidden for no reason etc; Gnome is cool but I had subtle lags which annoyed me, Mate or Cinnamon had crashes when I tried to use them, meanwhile XFCE satisfies my needs in 100% so why change ;)

I also really, really like the old Win95 UI :x XFCE can be made to look similar, plus it has all the features that were missing there and I use

the only thing I miss is the ability to group windows into tabbed ones, like KDE or PekWM could
