Well, I recommend you to find the right mapping and work with the "alt dead keys"
For a lot of reasons it willbe easier
I do that with my english keyboard to write Spanish characters, and works like a charm

my keyboard setup is ok , i can use all dead keys but i want to do it using alt+<somenumbers>

To enable AltGr you need to enable a layout with AltGr (called 'English with AltGr' or something), to enable Compose key you need to enable it in your DE settings or in setxkbmap.
To type º - Compose + o + o
Compose charmap is configurable.

Eduard

For X apps, you need to use/configurate the Compose Key

Will that be fixed for F26, F27?

Eduard

19:23:41
And for Cinnamon Spin (I'm not sure if it works for gnome) the default "Compose Key" is Shift+Alt Gr (in that specific order)

I heard it's broken on other virtualizers, too.

What do you mean? I'm using F26 Workstation Beta in virt-manager (qemu+KVM) and it works pretty well

in VirtualBox the screen flickers
to the point of Wayland being unusable.

Marc
03.07.2017

No issue with X.org obviously, since it is a known wayland regression.
