A lot of it is stuff that's well-structured but not necessarily text or properly-encoded text (because people are stupid)

but... I'm definitely not an expert in data compression :D

Probably, but at that point is it just the same as any other LZ-based algorithm?
It's definitely not going to approach LZMA

I tried to read an deflate algorythm once
it wasn't illogical, but I always was amazed that it is going to work

All Wikipedia says about brotli's algorithm is that it's "based on a modern variant of the LZ77 algorithm, Huffman coding and 2nd order context modeling"
Which... is basically deflate plus a little dressing on top

btw, who maintains Lua in Fedora? The Lua SIG seems to be pretty silent these days, but Lua seems to be used deep down in the system (also on RHEL/CentOS)

No. This parameter is not required for /*, because shell will expand asterisk automatically.

You manually download the Files and Repolist and if its not too old when you get to the target machine you can apply updates there

You can also setup a local Squid Cache and point your Fedora to use it as package source, all files going over there will then be cached
So others can update their pcs easily if you share a network with them - ipfire firewall offers to do so by default for all distributions

Or you can create a local mirror of Fedora's repository: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Infrastructure/Mirroring
