you can still use python to write scripts, even if bash is still a default shell
I can recommend fish as a bash alternative, but keep in mind that it's not 100% compatible with bash, so scripts are written differently
many people also like zsh

I'm sure you'll see the only true path sooner of later, which is, of course, having fish as your one and only shell of choice
bash seems so... obsolete by comparison

Do you like having an embedded web server and next to 0 community support? :P

Michał
05.05.2017
12:50:42
yeah, I do ?
okay the webserver is overdoing it, I have to admit that one
that simple text config would be more than sufficient

I have to admit that with fish I had to check out the documentation two or three times, other than that it's simply user friendly enough

Eduard
05.05.2017
12:54:10
I *need* wat
What's the problem using something with "next to 0 community support"?
I don't need more autocompletion that the one in bash, and my console it's not a text editor to have "syntax highlight"

天荣

my point is, I use fish to execute commands, from time to time to run a small loop

Michał

So, what's the point???
fish has nice completions, highlighting of typos, can list command line switches with little help for you, small stuff like that

things like you can write a middle of old commands, press up and it will search the history
small but comfortable things
wouldn't really write scripts in it though, for reasons @Rustiful provided

I'm 100% sure zsh is more powerful, it's just... fish effortlessly gives me functionality which is cool enough to make me like it and not feel any incentive to check zsh out and configure it
