All other cards from these last generations are 2 slots high. This is a slime 1U server.

I see. Well, 460 is fine too, especially in pair. :)
You might look at quadros as well.

1070 ain't cheap as well.

Sadin
26.04.2017
13:31:36
Its more value per $ than a 1080 and considerably out performs a 1060 and everything AMD so its justified a bit :)

Gwindor
26.04.2017
13:40:41
You gonna to leave the top opened?

Sadin
26.04.2017
13:41:46
I can, Im going to try without doing so first, it cools fairly well right now under load
I worry how keeping it open will effect the passive heat sinks since they rely on the airflow created by the shape of the chassis

Gwindor
26.04.2017
13:43:43
Hmm. You can improvise a cover for them.
Or drill holes for intake fans.
Though...
Sadin, do those fans throw air in the case?
I bet they do.
So, you might think about making those fans exaust ones.

Sadin
26.04.2017
13:49:04
Graphics card fans behave as exhaust fans
They pull air in from the case and out the PCI slot

Gwindor
26.04.2017
13:54:38
And counting very small amount of space between the cover and a fan...
It basically is going to pull air from nowhere.

Sadin
26.04.2017
13:58:33
True I just looked at that after I said it
I'll figure something out maybe cut a hole in the top panel above the fan intake

Gwindor
26.04.2017
13:59:33
But then airflow from CPU side would conflict with airflow from GPU side.
Cutting hole is a good thing. But I'd also reversed the fan.

Sadin
26.04.2017
14:00:54
Hmm I'll test a couple things then if I see drastic rise in temps I'll swap fan direction

Gwindor
26.04.2017
14:01:16
And, well, you can always swap it back in case. :)
