isn't that how Fedora's LiveUSB persistence is done?

Guess why i am anything but a Fan of using a Usb stick with Persistence unless absolutely massively unchangeably needed

that's an expensive beast, I am considering getting one though as it has 128MB flash onboard

Yeah, I guess if someone uses a computer from such LiveUSB, then there surely is some important reason

They could install the whole os on the stick instead

needs a slightly speedy stick with wear levelling controller tough

do you have OpenWRT on it? I am considering it for the flash alone, so I would be able to install all of the stuff I would use without USB magic and custom kernels

They could install the whole os on the stick instead
I was thinking about it, would the partition UUID stay constant?

For Pcs if you want the daily fear of risking all your files you can use lv2 to extend your partitions onto other devices
I dont really mind, just want persistence for accessing my web accounts on the go..

Thats a Router Thing, not recommended for Pc usage
Maybe I could just install Fedora onto my 8 GB USB drive

Even Debian/ Ubuntu doesnt install on it, insufficient storage space

Michał
20.04.2017
13:03:39
8GB insufficient? did you try to partition it yourself? 8GB should be enough for simple tasks; I would recommend XFCE or LXDE version though

when it comes to Ubuntu, they have this nifty mini.iso, which lets you install just a base system with console and not much else, then you can install a small graphical environment and I would be suprised if it would exceed 1GB

I`d prefer a slightly flashy GUI, atleast XFCE, MATE etc...
well, you can't have everything on a limited disk space ;) I'm using XFCE daily, and while it is not flashy at all, it does the job it is supposed to do very well IMHO

Absolutely, I really like it and use it constantly on my main PC, although I would like to flaunt flashier DEs and desktop effects to my co-workers...

Thisnthing has dual Partitions anyway so its 64M.

One for backup if your flash fails

or was it a 256M with 2x 128? need to check at home

Good Afternoon, Fedorians :D I'm setting up, with my dad, a Fedora Server, based on a Intel Core 2 Duo, and 4GB of RAM (DDR3, as far as I remember). Can I run an FTP and Printer server on that Machine? Thanks ^-^

Michał

How different is a Server build?
Never installed it, but I assume that default install lets you select which packages do you want, so you can select only what you need

Michał
20.04.2017
13:10:29
Wait what
well, if it would set up partitions UUIDs in fstab, then wouldn't booting such install on another PC be a problem

Is there a use case for Desktops?
I, personally, would just install the console version and then manually work my way up by installing graphical interface from there

Alpine

Try Alpine Linux for a Usb

In Legacy (not uefi) mode

400mb for xfce setup cant be beaten

(or 39 without xfce common apps)
