The struggle is real! Since then I always generate a file with the packages marked as upgrades, to later download them at uni to make offline updates at home XD, movies, music, courses. Home network serves for Telegram, IRC, mails, reddit, just that XD.

Depends, not really, 88mbps is equivalent to 11MB/s which is below the average reading/copying speed on disk.

The thing is if you have a 1gbps, a Gigabit port and a HDD instead of a SSD with 6gbps speed.
