Because it syncs so much more than files

But if those nodes are down your syncing is as well

Michał

I wanted to sync files only, and syncthing seems like a perfect idea for me

but if I'd like to switch off google services on my phone, owncloud would probably be my way to go

And you can chain several nexts together and let them sync each other - this way you can have a decentralized node network of file, cintacts and calendar sync

seriously? that changes so often
All main devs left own for being taken under a more restrictive american corp owner or smth so they made next and made all the enterprise plugins open source while they were at it

If lede proves to give me better wifi so be it

Hi guys why Ubuntu still has more users than fedora when there are better distro such as fedora and arch

1) Arch is much worse especially for newcomers 2) Total Newcomers are better off with Mint

Ubuntu works okay for many people, and Arch is something completely different so no point in comparing it to Fedora or Ubuntu

Installing arch or archbased on your grandmas pc is asking for trouble big time

So is of you do for any average person

Ubuntu does good job at standarizing things, you know what to expect by Ubuntu

it does bad job at working together with other distros

but on its own, it's pretty good IMHO

Ubuntu is completely shit, two weeks of attempts to install it on the hard drive and it wouldn't installed, I installed fedora within 20 min, friend of mine was there and he said " what the hell, in that simple!!?" Fedora is indeed the best distro u could ever have

Michał

what do you mean by "it wouldn't install"? LiveCD wouldn't boot, GRUB didn't install, it didn't recognize some hardware?

Michał

IMHO Ubuntu does a good job at popularizing a Linux desktop, it's easily recognizable and usually works okay, even though it has many flaws

During the installation I found only the options to install Ubuntu on the USB stick, the options to install it on the hard drive didn't show up, I asked on "ask Ubuntu" no one believe me

I don't know exactly the reason, but I think so

My laptop "dell" is fully integrated with Ubuntu, Ubuntu logo is on the laptop

Just because you dont know how to install it (or cant detect the issue) it does not make it a shit. Ubuntu is one of the most user-friendly distro, even on installing part. Look in your hardware config!!!

Could be that the ubuntu kernel was too old
No idea, I downloaded Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS, thank god it didn't work, fedora is much betfer choice IMHO

especially I wanna learn CentOS sysadmin later on

Maybe I'm not smart enough to install it myself, even friends of mine tried to install it on my machine, we are all technical ppl, still students though, the point is neither quora nor "ask Ubuntu" users believe me

And I am not a technical guy at all... just a user! i dont use ubuntu since its 12.04 version (i was in debian all linux user time and now on made the switch to fedora) but there was some issue om the installer that didnt correctly managed the partitions FS. so if (at that time) it was a lvm partition there the installer had some issue cleaning that and make it ext4!! very small bug lol but it was enough to break the installer!

Hey yo guys!

Who can tell me, how I can clean my repositories?

Michał
21.03.2017

I would go to /etc/dnf.repos.d/ and disable the repos I don't use anymore by hand

you can set enabled=0 to disable a repo

there was also a way to do it from the command line, but I don't remember how

Rizal
21.03.2017
11:32:50
sudo dnf config-manager --set-disabled

Or you can try rm -f /etc/yum.repos.d/repo name that you want to delete

I wanna take UDEMY linux command line, but the course is on Ubuntu, Does it apply to Fedora too ?

Michał
21.03.2017
12:20:51
no idea what's covered in there

if it's standard Linux commands, bash + gnu utils, then sure, if some Ubuntu specific stuff is covered (like UFW, apt-get) then nope

Ahmed Waleed

Well if you want to finish the course asap then you better use ubuntu because you will spend less time looking for alternative in fedora. Once completed you can experiment with fedora
