Hi, this is official?
Hi @MotionGeek It's not an official channel of Fedora but a huge portion of the community is here and is listed in the wiki, so it's as good as it gets. Besides, may I ask you where are you from? Just curiosity, don't reply if you don't want to.

Vitaly just mentioned. There are statically linked libraries bundled in the official executable, including openssl. Which is horrible practise, because openssl is a critical library. If a bug is discovered (which was the case only recently) then Telegram Desktop is not automatically patched by a system update of Fedora. You have to wait until Telegram realizes the problem, updates their openssl, repackages their Linux clients and then sends out an update notification to you.

L
12.02.2017
11:48:02
Compare that to having a natively compiled package which uses your system's openssl. One dnf update and you're on the safe side again.

Glad I was able to convince you. That's not the only thing they bundle, by the way. They also pack in ffmpeg, libxkb and some more libraries that I don't know, but openssl was the most critical one of those.

L

11:51:28
This is such a mess. It's like a list of "Horrible programming practice". The not to do summary. Why they do it this way?
I think the developer just doesn't know Linux very well. And in Windows, it's common practice to bundle libraries into software.

I do exactly the same, specially when it comes to hardware. I'm not a gamer so that's not a problem for me.

Is there a group like this in Spanish?
Yes, there is. https://t.me/fedoraesp

Is this group created by the user community or is it created by developers?
Developers are part of the community. They aren't aliens.

This is very weird. It doesn't happens to me. I also upgraded from Fedora 24. But F24 was a fresh install.
