If your battery died, charge it (laptop turned off) until is full. Then try to turn it on again. It worked many times for me.

That should fix it, since it seems to be a BIOS problem

If you need to flash BIOS, usually there are instructions to do it from a USB drive hidden somewhere online. Often it involves holding a special key combination during boot.

If that's necessary, removing the battery won't fix it.

This happened to me many times, new and old batteries. Except when they are really dead, because they're old and worked to exhaustion, nothing too serious happened. I just had to be patient and let it charge.

I'll let it charge up overnight and see if anything changes. Otherwise I'll see if I can find a local shop here that might be able to help me open it or replace the CMOS battery. It's hard now since I'm in a country where I don't know the language or the area. But my fingers are crossed…
