It says "soffice" when it should say "libreoffice". Besides, there should be an icon there.

But he's using Gnome Shell, that's the thing.

BTW, I think I recall having an icon there L but I'm pretty sure I never had it in my current laptop. Maybe this issue is related to the graphic card? The Toshiba Satellite I had was Intel while this one is Nvidia. I don't know the soffice issue, never happened to me, but maybe @Wolfshappen suggestion works.

When FOSS solutions don't work, I use closed source.

Because it has much better compatibility with .doc and .docx

Sometimes I use wps for filling .doc file that extracted from pdf

"soffice" comes from the times of Star Office whose command was... soffice. It remained through it spawn OpenOffice & LibreOffice.

Also, system administrating is what I know much more about than programming :)
