It's open source, you can build it yourself or find ready builds on the internet

IMHO it's worth the additional trouble, knowing how flawlessly it worked when I used it few years ago

I've seen some, Macs seem nice on the surface but when you need some specialized software you either want Windows (because it's available there) or Linux (as there are probably some open source counterparts)
