Fedora makes a visit to Mysore, India! Kanika Murarka and Sumantro Mukherjee went to FOSS Camp SJCE to teach students about Fedora, git, and virtual reality.

Well, it depends on where you located @surveyor3

Samuele

North east italy, near slovenia

Ah, okay, you're in Europe
I was worried because I was suggesting European conferences and maybe you were in Malaysia or something like that ?

If you wanted to hop over the Mediterranean to Albania, there's a really cool conference in May called OSCAL, like @Kohane mentioned.
There's also a PyCon Slovakia coming up

Samuele

And to organize a conference? Could we do it without much money?

The best is finding a public place where to organise your conference, like a university, a school or a library.

Samuele
02.02.2017
15:57:45
I mean if you know someone who can do interesting conference near north east italy, austria and slovenia we could maybe finance the travel and the marketing
we are financed by the university so it we will do it at university

Oh, want you're asking for is speakers, right?
People who will talk in the conference...?

Samuele

yes
I don't think we would have any advantage to do a fedora branded conference

@Kohane have you ever spoken in a conference ?

Yes, in FLOCK

Kohane

Yes, but no audio, it was broken
But there's a transcription and I the slides.
When is your conference @surveyor3 ?

Samuele

We don't have much money. I know you are from south America and it would be out of money ?

Kohane
02.02.2017
16:13:22
No, I'm currently in UK
But probably I'll be somewhere in EU by the time you organise your conference so it won't be a problem to go there.
Also, you don't need to pay me. If my talk is related to Fedora I can ask for reimbursement. In case is too expensive that I don't think so.

any reasoning?
They're not difficult at all, they're just there to take your money
And most jobs don't even look at those certs...

Álvaro

It's not Microsoft man
Microsoft takes 3000 $ to take their certs
LPI takes 300-400 $
it's a nonprofit organization

At edx.org there are some courses by the Linux Foundation. Give an eye to them, for beginners I highly recommend it.

Does Fedora keep a track of the most used version of the kernel?

William José Moreno Reyes

As far as I know there are not packages usage statistics
Any way fedora have a very aggressive kernel update policy, most of time there is the latest kernel available in supported releases

pionen: @williamjmorenor given the default is to always point to the most recent kernel I think the lastest is the defauld and the more currently used.
pionen: For the current maintained stable releases, for sure.

Disable fast boot up from BIOS and completely shut down your PC before booting back into Fedora

Don't copy/move/remove files on windows C: from a Linux session.
When shutting down Windows keep the Shift key pressed while you click Turn off and keep it while the computer turn off, or run from the windows terminal
shutdown /t 10 /s
Turning off this way avoid locking partition when mounting it on linux.
Use a secondary partition for copying files from linux to windows.
Try to not mount the linux partition on windows. It may corrupt the linux file system.

This might be due to hardisk partition table.
Sure it is an mbr disk.
