I use this version too.

But from rpmfusion

And what exactly was so world-moving that changed that you couldnt wait two days and rather take a bug-ridden and problematic release?

For impatient people there is always updates-testing, which holds all staged binaries.

Guys, a question about a dual-boot install (F28 + Win10 1809). Asking for a friend: He recently woke up to a terrible day where his Fedora install completely vanished from the hard disk. So I digged it up and found out that all the partitions were completely gone where Fedora was installed. I mean like, it was unallocated. I then immediately used a F28 Live media and installed gparted and it was in fact true. the partitions somehow disappeared and they show up as unallocated but the windows install was left unscathed. This was after a BIOS update from Dell, could it have been the issue?

@Wolfshappen any clue? Thanks!

Also he was wondering if the Windows 10 install partition should be at the beginning of the disk?

it's at the right most

does the position matter?

All of these run better when using the system version of libraries, and use even a tiny little bit less ram.

So would a Windows 10 or any other distro installed on the beginning of the disk be better/worse than other positions?

That's true, but if I use the official version, I can get timely updates, and I will extract them to the /opt directory, and I won't mess with the system files.

And the distro updates are far from not timely.

But its your system that you're mucking with so be it. :P

Why not let the package manager take care of it? Without letting the package manager do its job its like a Windows insatall :P

Some just love the olden ways of having to manually track down packages and having 15 billion incompatible versions of something installed parallel.

You want data on the outermost rim of the hdd, as its read faster there.
So help me out here please: I'm planning this layout freshly for my friend: 1. Wipe entire HDD 2. Install Win 10 first 3. Install Fedora 4. create a data partition of remaining space 5. pull the data from backups. would that be any good?

Why the "create a data partition"?
after wiping the entire disk in the first step there would be no partitions left right? So I'm gonna create 3 partitions, 1 for windows, 1 for fedora, 1 for his data
