it's that the risks outweigh the benefits. you may be alive, but your system at risk. and most of the times the goal can be achieved without disabling selinux.

The only benefit is not having messages about selinux security denials pop up. Everything else is downsides.

The benefit was that I could use the system. Eventually, they seemed to learn from users' feedback and made SELinux usable. Now it's been a long time that I don't even remember it exists.
