Mounting like that is nice and dandy for viewing and working with files from nautilus but make a real mount in fstab if you want to do that

So what? I behave impolite, but there are a lot of different messages, not just questions and answers.

I will not do it any more. Just my narrow mind and a bad temper.

Everyone has their own personal preferences and opinions. You don't like GNOME, but someone else will. It was an unhelpful response to a question asking for help.

In the future, just please try to keep your comments more constructive, or if someone is asking a question for help, try to avoid answering with an opinion.

When I try to connect to a VPN I get this message and it fails to connect: SELinux is preventing openvpn from write access on the file /home/.ecryptfs/user/.Private/ECRYPTFS_FNEK_ENCRYPTED.123456789/ECRYPTFS_FNEK_ENCRYPTED.123456789. Only happens sometimes, sometimes it works. I already set home_cert_t with semanage but I still get this message. Maybe it's something because of ecryptfs? Anybody knows what to do?

It never runs though, I've removed it and tried to reinstall just using the rpmfusion repo packages

So long as it's the pollbot that (1) doesn't use a command every time someone votes, and (2) is relevant to a topic of this group, I don't mind

I have an issue with that the poll is supposed to divide people. The only options were "I like GNOME", "I like Xfce" and "I need to reconsider my life choices". This was clearly no serious poll but yet another anti-whatever hate post.

If you plan to share a computer with others, and not give them full access to all your files, ecryptfs is the way to go.

Tobias?
20.08.2017
12:48:40
Full disk encryption sucks for every scenario except if you're the only user of a system.
Which is not only the most likely scenario but also usually you have one admin - only he could access user files or make readable.

by default bob cant see alice's files unless he has full root access .

L
20.08.2017
12:49:14
Also, ecryptfs has advantages like not entering your encryption passphrase three times when doing updates due to packagekit reboots (which would take a long time as your passphrase is hopefully very long)

You need to really trust those you share your computer with.

I have no problems letting my friends use my laptop — but my files are a no-go.

You must store your client certificates in ~/.cert directory. This is a known issue.
Ah yes, I totally forgot, sorry. How can I undo the the semanage fcontext -a -t home_cert_t mycert.cert?

Tobias?
20.08.2017
12:51:35
Or he takes out the disk.
At which point you can even setup fde with seperate user homedirs that only mount on user login

one masterkey for booting the system, on to unlock your home
