Все уходят, потому что на официальный coreos вышел EOL, а на сопутствующие продукты типа rkt все забили (он даже в ауре остался без куратора)

Привет, ребят. Пытаюсь загрузить Fedora CoreOS либо FlatCar Linux последних версий с CD (ноут на который хочу поставить глючит при загрузке с USB); Fedora виснет на загрузке "failed to isolate default target unit sysroot-var.unit not found", FlatCar замирает на "Reached target multi-user system". Думаю видимо остался вариант только с Ubuntu Core. Есть какие-то мысли, может у кого-то такое было?

Зачем вам Fedora Core Os на ноуте? Ставьте Fedora Silverblue на ноут. А так у вас либо Image с которого вы установку делаете битый. Либо не драйверов

As far as I know, CoreOS Container Linux or Flatcar Linux’s LiveCD need 2GB of RAM to boot or it will hang. But after you install it, it can run prefectly on 1G or even 512MB if you are brave enough.

Все эти операционки не предназначены для установки на ноуты. Но если нужнл. То запускайте их установку через (i)pxe и через ignition файл загружайте все драйвера и вводите их в кластер сварма

CoreOS’s dev make it a two-step process, which you’re recommanded to write in Container Linux Configuration (yaml) and transpile it into ignition (json). That’s the document for it

I have been running Flatcar on 12 machines for 5 months, it works just like the old days when I’m using CoreOS Container Linux but with updates still being delivered every month. Unlike Fedora CoreOS which uses rpm-ostree as it’s update mechanism, Flatcar still uses the 2-partition schema to deliver updates as the original CoreOS does, and the container runtime is still Docker.

From what I’ve noticed, docker-machine is broken (or at least have some glitches) because it can’t read “ID_LIKE” in /etc/os-release thus refused to run provisioning, and the project refuses to accept PR since it’s in maintenance mode. In order to use docker-machine (because I have to switch between a lot of instances of Flatcar Linux), I have to run a custom-compiled version of docker-machine to get provisioning done properly (then I can run the latest release of docker-machine with no issues).

I don’t know if maintaining CoreOS (or discontinued projects like rkt) is too hard for developers of Flatcar, but I think Flatcar is a decent alternative and good to use.
