Dont get me wrong. I like fbsd, and i use it in a vm from almost a year as a desktop. It is really fast and stable. But when you want to have some pkg installed you need to decide which repo you want to use(quarterly or latest). I had some, lets say, bad experience with this, when i wanted some apps to install and going for latest messed up my vm. In the end i was able to install and run what i wanted. Thats why i said is a messy os.
Yeah, you could say that i'm not familiar with certain things on fbsd, and that would be true, but i'm expecting that when i upgrade pkgs no installed pkgs/apps be removed because of a conflict.

To my knowledge, the more virtualization/emulation layers you add on top in order to run a program, specially a graphics demanding one, the worse.
Most PC games are targeted to DirectX. Being that said the best platform to play them is Windows, no matter how bloated it is.
Is it possible tho, to run games on BSDs? Yes, not all games will run but you'll get some to play

i think bug quantity grows proporcionally direct with performance ... because to have good performance, the programers avoid some necesary steps ... that's why windows is the best to play but is full of bugs ... and openbsd have less performance in general because they make all necesary steps one by one to try the perfect code piece
