The branch is 13-current
13-current is still a thing? Or is it 14-current?

Guys anybody else getting segfault with tor-browser-12.0.6_1? https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/tor-browser-segfault-after-upgrading-to-2023q3.89615/

Why bsd is considered unix even though it does has unix at&t source code?
XS
they are considered unix-like, not unix (that's a common language abuse / simplification) as they implement a clone of unix, and were historically a derivate of the original at&t one

But bsd now doesn't have thus code anymore, right?
all problematic code have been remove and replaced over the years in all BSD variants
XS

yes, no more since net/2 in 1991 and 1994

It depends on what your goals are. The idea of Wayland, on paper doesn't seem bad. But I personally think xorg works just fine
XS

How large is the Xorg server plus xlib, xcb compared to the libwayland stack ? I don't think stating "wayland is just bloatware" have any sense except by considering that anyway, any software is bloatware. Wayland's purpose is to provide a more modern architecture for graphical applications rendering. That work was initiated by X11 developers themselves. That of course is not compatible with X11's architecture. This means that you either have to use only Wayland compatible graphical programs or still have an X11 server running alongside with libraries and a proxy to it from wayland, XWayland. The support of Wayland on BSD is getting better. While it still important to maintain X11 that will hardly die in the near future, it's great to be able to use Wayland if it suits you and it is not likely to die as well in the near future, I think.
Ronard NX
Wayland is just more simple than x it is
Ronard NX
I m using wayland on fbsd and it works just fine xD

No, I'm just asking for confirmation or clarification. I don't need your sarcasm.

I was about to day People in bsd are so nice, opposite to some crazy Linux people who have no manners, unable of living social lives, but now I found you. I hope you are an exception.
XS
Take it as you want. I were effectively wondering if you were about to ask a confirmation for any statement coming from the places you're reading them.

Oh course I cannot do this ad infinitum. You don't even have to imagine that
I've seen people come on here and drain everyones time based off a post on some forum. XS is legit, nothing rude about it. Take ego out of tech questions.

Woland
try values between 0 and 50 and then between 224 and 500.

He said forward "everything". I cannot forward everything, because it's infinite. So technically he's wrong and it's not about my ego.

Ok, I don't see there my first question about Wayland being having deserved a sarcastic comment from another user. I saw his sarcastic comment as being unrespectful, listed on the rules. After this I started to play childish, against the rules. So I don't think the current rules allows people to make questions without having sarcasm thrown back
Ronard NX
Wayland in fbsd it s even stable from other mainline linux distributions

I'm sorry you feel offended by my answer and my question to your *third question, but at least I replied them and it was sincere. I asked that because it happens that some persons want to start ranting and ask things by comparing other rants from other chats. That usually is not constructive and pretty annoying. Of course, I could have replied you something all sweet and pretty welcoming to all your questions maybe if they were with a bit more caring. You have the right to consider me a stupid moron for asking you to reconsider your approach a bit directly. I have the right to do so as well. I'm sorry that, by omitting this is an off-topic chat I was a bit direct. Maybe I could have taken more layers of sweetness. I just felt all the answers up to this point were sufficient. I'm happy that people are interested in using X11 and Wayland. It tends to become redundant that way as many other topics related to operating systems, markets and security. There is already loads of commentary widely available.
XS
That's cute trying to change morons like me, you know, they often stay grumpy anyway ^^ But that's sure that's if everyone do its best and avoid chatting in tired-times, that indeed it gets better for all. It come that some discussions turn a room into a pub. Sometimes it's just fine and fun, sometimes it's not and people are harassing each other for nothing. You're totally right expressing that it should be avoided.

Tor relay, i2p node, monero/wownero public node
I'm running an i2p node. Running a Monero node would be fun also. Would I have a chance of getting Monero for me if I do that? My PC is so old and slow I don't think it would help me on Monero. So with i2p at least I help others.

ɴꙩᴍᴀᴅ
Yeah topics suck
Topics kill groups. If you want to make sure a group becomes idle and no one talks, use topics in it.

I'm open to discuss that. We enabled them to simplify the content flow, and to avoid having separated groups for ot and similar
XS
I'm aware some people does not like it because of the current workflow implemented by the telegram client. Maybe that will be enhanced in the future.

That's nice. As far as on-topic off-topic goes, I think "topic is freebsd" does the job, like in the IRC

yes the workflow is tedious, and its still somewhat in development, msgs used to leak through topics until very recently

Hi all. Has anyone had problems on bhyve with debian10, debian11 after waking up the computer (zzz, acpiconf -s 3) with bhyve running. I have some problems with the network, for example, I can’t connect via ssh, the ssh connection starts, but does not end - Connection log https://bsd.to/L8pS If you connect via the console, then ping does not work from the virtual machine, some commands may not complete, CTRL + C does not even help. Even a reboot may fail. On ubuntu 22.04 the problem doesn't reproduce anymore, only with debian.

Writing-tablets on the laptop (mine is a linux machine, but that doesnt make it less of a usecase for bt) Using bluetooth means i still dont need to fish one cable from my bag when i temporarily set up shop for example in the canteen
