Release would not make so much difference )
The only difference is ReactOS website new info update.

<tkreuzer> My plan is to make x64 work for 0.4.9, make it stable for 0.4.10, implement WOW64 for 0.4.11 and make x86 obsolete with 0.4.12

This mean that ReactOS will officially drop 32 bits architecture support, when it will reach 0.5 serie? Or someone will do a 32 bits architecture support ReactOS fork or distro?
Eris
sometimes, idiots are easy to fool.
Chungy
64-bit would be a pretty good point for 0.5 anyway :P
Mike
And SMP/SMT support, too. We need it, it would enormously boost reactos speed

This could be a problem when forking ReactOS repos. ?? 🤔

"There’s even talk of Win32 app functionality being removed, making it so anything not built using Microsoft’s UWP wouldn’t function." Oh god please no [edit] Oh, it's not meant to replace Windows (yet). Not all hope is lost. (yet...)
Anonymous
Well, from what i understand by reading up on OneCore, the Win32 stack will still remain for desktop users(they would be suicidal to not do that), but everything else will become UWP and modular. They started this since W8, with the MinWin kernel project, and have largely succeded. Now, the only part remaining is shell+explorer.exe, and that is a MASSIVE pain in the ass to replace, since its hooked into anything from the file explorer to the kernel, and its replacement needs to adapt to a ton of form factors, as WalkingCat has shown.

Does reactos install from USB yet
Anonymous
USB installation should be a higher priority than x64 support

Why does @jeditobe keep making LiveUSBs
Anonymous
Where are the bootusbs?
Chungy
Why would install from USB be higher priority?
Anonymous
Because it's been broken for 8 or something years
Anonymous
And nobody damn uses CDs anymore
Chungy
usb boot is so unpredictable on PCs though. *shrugs*
Nicolas
Where are the bootusbs?
It is supposed that ReactOS isos are 'hybrid' isos, and with Rufus LiveUSB creator, it works a bit with vgal`s builds only (for now).
Nicolas
USB installation should be a higher priority than x64 support
It must be one of the highest priority during this year, to have USB 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0 (and 3.0 if it is possible) full complete and working. And LiveUSB full working too.
Nicolas
And nobody damn uses CDs anymore
In my city only 1 PC shop still sells CD-RWs . Not anyone have the same lucky to have CD-RWs . Having LiveUSB full working becames urgent!
Nicolas
usb boot is so unpredictable on PCs though. *shrugs*
Could you explain with complete details?
Chungy
booting from USB tends to be difficult if possible at all
Nicolas

GNU/Linux distros can boot from USB. And be installed by USB. ReactOS LiveUSB is a fundamental need in modern tech world.
Chungy
I know they can, but I disagree with it being a "fundamental need" :P

CDs and possible DVDs will dissappear soon (here where I live), it is more practical now a LiveUSB boot instead USB-DVD-W boot. Some new machines does not include a DVD Writer anymore.
Chungy
heh
Chungy
there's also that reactOS is so premature for actual hardware use, booting an ISO in a VM is always possible regardless of if you have a physical drive.

How much difference are between 'Win32' and 'NT' ?
NT is kernel, Win32 is subsystem, for the details read Mark Russinovich's book "Windows Internals"

Do the devs use these tools? Will this article help with reactos development?
Mike
USB vs 64 bit: we need both. USB helps in real hardware test, 64 bit greatly increases performance, software compatibility and future-proofing. Easy to say, but I think we would need at least 3 or 4x the actual number of developers
Олександр
SMP too.
Mike
SMP too.
SMT/SMP and a good memory manager are always welcome
Mike
We use Coverity.
Thanks for the info 😊
