This will also make it easier to implement os update

Customized installation and cjk support can also be easier too

in this way rapps can be simply a frontend for dpkg/apt or choco

When you have enough ideas that if you printed each one on a piece of paper you could get to the moon and back 5 times, you know you have enough ideas to work with.

I just wondering why we can’t do it like debian systems, with package managers builtin to the base. As far as I know, Rapps is not actually a package manager. It doesn’t do some depency managing and version calculating. Why not?

because im 90% sure that most linux distros are built around their package manager (which is why you can't properly have pacman on debian or dpkg on redhat or yum on arch) and windows doesn't have a package manager

You can't have proper version managemment if the package updates itself

So you don't have any package managers simply because MS won't maintain them.

microsoft has kind-of-sort-of gone for a package dealo with MSI but it's also very half-baked (such apps can still trash over the file system and registry like classic apps can). Windows 10 is supposed to have something even more robust with desktop apps sold through the store going into their own fully virtualized registry hive and file system tree

Windows 8+ have Metro/Universal/whatever based apps that have their own store.

These are made to be platform-agnostic which is still a different concept

some apps i use not on chocolatey and other are not updated so i will rather go to the official website and download
