Is a 256 MB pen enough for trying that build?
Yeonung
I think so. After creating LiveUSB with Rufus, it only uses 224MB.
Mike
Thanks 😊
Mike
thanks 👍
Mike
Thanks 😊 can i forward to reactos italian page?
Mike
No, the italian telegram group
Mike
I'll forward ☺️
Mike
We're not very active, but sometimes we do ☺️
Mike
I just asked for forwarding ☺️ i think that it would be more polite
Олександр
He requested a permission to forward a screenshot.
Mike
A link, sorry
Олександр
Ook.
Mike
(I'll post the same link on an italian forum soon)
Mike
I'll tell the admin, thanks!
Yeonung
Yes I selected Debug option, and I didn't tried other options.
Yeonung
I'm trying all of boot options now. Strange. Sometimes this build boots up well with non-debug and debug option, sometimes it doesn't.

Maybe it's cold boot related? Idk what cause hang during the boot.

fonts tend to be large, but I wonder if including Unifont is reasonable at least as fallbacks. Then at least all CJK text would be rendered out of the box.
Chungy
Noto would definitely look nicer but they're larger than ReactOS is now :P
Chungy
Unifont would add just ~10MB
Chungy
Chungy
unifont integrated -> readable chinese text by default :P

unifont glyphs don't look very good, but can be a good choice
Chungy
Indeed. They aren't pretty, but they are functional
Chungy
noto would be pretty, but it adds ~1GB to include them :p

should we have something like language packs as ms do

I wonder what it'd take to get Rock Ridge support in ReactOS. That'd be cool.
Kirn
I wonder what it'd take to get Rock Ridge support in ReactOS. That'd be cool.
An underlying concept of Unix-style owners, groups, and OGW permissions in Windows NT.
Kirn
Filesystem extensions that add POSIX filesystem behaviour have very little value in the realm of Windows NT (and clones)
Chungy
basic support wouldn't require all that. It'd mainly be nice to have non-8.3 names show up on such discs (assuming they lack Joliet, which is the main reason that support would be nice :P)
Chungy
even then, proper ownership and permissions shouldn't be insurmountable. The ext2 and btrfs drivers have to deal with it too.
Batnam
I love NFS access in windows
Batnam
It works perfectly
Batnam
I set uid and gid in the registry and forget the rest
Chungy
yeah, cygwin for example is able to show real POSIX ownership/modes on both NFS and SMB mounts
Chungy
it's really easy to trivial to make discs with Rock Ridge but not Joliet, since that tends to be the default with iso9660 creation programs on Unix :p
Chungy
and anything that was sold without the intent of being usable on Windows tends to be the same
Kirn
It's really that difficult to forget to add the -J flag to every invocation of mkisofs?
Kirn
This really seems like a non-issue.
Chungy
Yeah, especially when my main systems aren't windows :p and do that retroactively for all the discs I've made since ~1999 whereabouts
Chungy
I think some basic support would be nice, probably not terribly difficult. hehe.
Chungy
also some file names aren't able to be joliet'd, so they'd be excluded from trees even with -J. I've had that happen.
Kirn
And you didn't use ISO level 3, only 1 or 2?
Chungy
ISO level doesn't matter with regards to what can be included in joliet
Kirn
Well, no, but it does matter w.r.t. 8.3 naming restrictions.
Chungy
hmm, true
Chungy
whatever utility you think it might lack, I think it'll be fun to try to hack that feature in.
Chungy
personally I could call it "totally impractical" given my main systems aren't ReactOS (or even Windows), but heh :p
Chungy
and yeah, even Microsoft's support for POSIX ownership and modes in their own NFS and SMB drivers should be good enough to say it's not out of bounds to support it on Rock Ridge either :P

I wonder if 3D acceleration in Vbox works. I've been mostly running in QEMU :p
