Maybe they want to do something different with the current NT inspired codebase. The *BSDs are all very distinctly different, and still share code. Forking a project doesn't take resources away from it.

Faced the same problem. You just need to save bmp as 8 or 4 bits per pixel

IMHO, we could just use mpc-hc. Light, powerful, with dxva support and easy to use
