melvin
i should have -f flag added while mounting
melvin
silly me
melvin
strange. it appears that bsd kernel knows how to read from/write to linux lvm (as far as i tested). despite this fact it keeps throwing errors on attempts to mount a partition

Hello everybody,
Can anybody recommend a good gui for lldb ?
I don’t want to use a IDE like code::blocks or qt-creator for c++ development ...
Makaba
Would it be possible to use the webcam on Iridium browser? I can record audio with ffmpeg but I don't know how to make it work on Iridium

what should i add to grub.cfg to be able to boot freebsd? trued several options from google, none worked
Anonymous
melvin
yep
melvin
and third, and fourth
melvin
i think i forgot to do efi-related stuff during install :/
Anonymous
And you can only access to the other systems I guess ?
melvin
yep
Anonymous
I have a similar issue I guess. (Fedora/FreeBSD)
Anonymous
But since I only want to boot to FreeBSD, I changed the boot order in bios and made my FreeBSD SSD default
melvin
i dont even have freebsd option in bios
melvin
definetly something went wrong
melvin

As first boot device
melvin
i have sole hdd in my laptop
Anonymous
Ok
melvin
guess it is time to install all oses i have installed previously right way
melvin
:D
Anonymous
There is probably a solution. The system that shows you the grub loader should get another entry for FreeBSD. But I lack of knowledge to help you further.
Probably someone else ?
melvin
i think it is time for me to FINALLY learn about efi
Anonymous
I think it is a problem with the bootloaders of the other systems

i need some help. i have a partition with zfs, but it cannot be mounted, nor reformated
once i try to mount i get no such file or directory
once i try to create zpool i get is part of potentially active pool
melvin
during installation i can force both pool recreation and mounting. but during fetching base system and kernel installer hangs at 99% (i think it cant unpack archive)
mrphyber
a zpool needs to be imported before you can access zfs datasets
mrphyber
zpool import zpool-name
melvin
oh, lets say i am in a moment t0, what should i do after zpool create?
mrphyber
after creation of a zpool, that zpool must be imported with the command above
melvin
and thats all?
melvin
i mean
mrphyber
that will automatically create the mountpoint at root
melvin
just mount and write fstab afterwards?
mrphyber
I'm not sure about mounting zfs datasets
melvin
bsdinstaller assumes that user mounted root of new fs to /mnt and additionally write /tmp/bsdinstall_etc/fstab
mrphyber
I think you need to setup mountpoints with zfs set mountpoint
mrphyber
after you created the pool, import it and issue:
zfs set mountpoint=/ pool-name
mrphyber
that should work, I hope
mrphyber
and you need to enable zfs on
loader.conf
mrphyber
and
rc.conf
melvin
hmmm
melvin
can someone share his/her fstab with zfs root?
Andriy
It's empty
melvin
eeh?
melvin
ok, nvm
melvin
i guess i figured out what causes problem with archive fetching during install. it appears that fetch cant properly estimate size of a file and hangs during download. this is relevant only for ftp transfer though. maybe even for ftp transfer plus ftp.freebsd.org. the problem wasn't fixed even after 2 major releases, lmao
melvin
yes, maybe. it only relevant for net-based install. to avoid hanging substitute ftp to http when you enter fetch uri manually
Anonymous
It seems that ftp will be deprecated

Google seems to move forward with chrome at least
