On my box touchpad is recognized as ps/2 mouse, and touchpad-specific options not work. Have anybody had such situation? (Official Handbook and wiki do not solve the problem)
Egor
i m sure you installed the xorg-input-synaptic driver n what do you mean by touchpad-specific option
hw.psm.synaptics space does not exist, although synaptics_support is set to 1
Egor
and in dmesg log psm device is recognized as ps/2 mouse
Egor
I have rebuilt 12-release kernel with libinput support, with no effect

Bob
have anyone managed to get 4g dongle working with freebsd.
Egor
What hardware?
Mine is Asus x55a
Bob
USB Dongle? Plug and Play?
yes it's a USB dongle, plug and play.
Anonymous
yes it's a USB dongle, plug and play.
Then it should have detected right away.. considering the module is loaded. Usually it's name is "if_urndis"... So kldload if_urndis && ifconfig I am not sure, I am new freebsd user
Bob
I am actually trying to do this on my OPNsense firewall which is a Freebsd 11 based, had some difficulties in the past, will give it a try once again.
Bob
any idea whether we can lock the network? like lock it to use only 3g or 4g network?
Bob
that's ok, I am also not that familiar with freebsd.
Anonymous

For 3g, module name, "u3g".. load it for 3g, unload it for 4G. Simple
Bob
Thank you @sh0rter

Anyone was succesfull with setxkbmap in lumina?
Egor
setxkbmap is xorg-related thing, not lumina-specific
Krond
So there's no place inside lumina configuration, only .xinitrc?
Egor
the right place to set xkb map is /usr/local/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d
Egor
good explanation here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xorg/Keyboard_configuration
Krond
Per user?
Egor
no, its system-wide
Egor
if you want peruser, .xinitrc is your option of choise
TheWhyteCrow
Per user?
Create/modify login class of common users in login.conf, add their native locale. This should do the trick. Even for X, if they locale values aren't overwritten by the server. This is the BSD way.
Krond
Thank you!

Anyone fluid with fluxbox? How can I tranfser focus to windows under cursor on keypress?
Egor
is there something like NetworkManager on Linux?
Anonymous
Egor
i used to use ncurses-frontend to networkmanager on linux even without any DE. On FreeBSD, for example, after zzz, i have to run service netif restart, then kill PPP process, then run it again. Then can use internet again.

You can automate this by /etc/rc.suspend and /etc/rc.resume scripts. For more details please refer to FreeBSD handbook 11.13, power and resource management: https://www.freebsd.org/doc/handbook/acpi-overview.html

Though the ACPI situation itself is far from ideal
Egor
And another related situation. I came in cafe with my FreeBSD laptop. I have to edit wpa_supplicant.conf just to connect to wi-fi :) who has FreeBSD on laptop, does the same?
Oleksandr
@aeifn I had a similar situation. You can use the network manager

Thanks! That is it.

Mikhail
Ported or linux based?
Egor
it is linux based (on screenshot)
Egor
linux-based is distributed as binaries, right?
Mikhail
Yeap. But update of native telegram is good idea
Egor
in ports available native version 1.4.2, and it doesn`t build on my box
Egor
no, 12.0
Egor
it just hangs on 18% of compiling
Mikhail
Never tried, but strange
