I think I can make the switch in a travel laptop I have with a non bsd os, and use a virtual machine to access that required os, as the use I give to it is mainly like yours, terminal emulator and tiling wm (bspwm in my case)

CWM is no tiling, is like twm and come with Base System but i have not much Knowhow. A bit tmux, cmus, mpv, mc, calcurse, feh, netpbm and a bit Gimp and inkscape.

Yes, unfortunately I didn't correctly introduce myself to the notion of slices. Then I got scared away from using the openbsd CD I got as a present, although their line by line installer is the best (in any case, simplest) imho. How pitiful...

I could have been a bsd unix wizard, but turned into a wannabe linux sysadmin haha
